Mommylicious is a show primarily featuring local businesses offering products and services geared towards families. There are over 60 Vendor tables as well as various bonus areas such as stroller check and a private mother’s area for nursing, changing and snack time.

SOS Magazine proudly announced the success of the Second Annual Saffron Conference – Understanding Cyberviolence and Youth Victimization, Many Voices Many Path’s at the Radisson Hotel South. This year we had Dr. Parry Aftab, a world renowned cyber lawyer/advisor for Facebook, as a one of the keynote speakers and her extensive knowledge regarding cyber issues proved to be astounding! SOS Children’s Safety Magazine in partnership with Lite95.7FM attended the Edmonton Women’s Show. The booth looked great and the requests for the publication came from parents, teachers and organizations. We were very pleased to have the support of the radio station and look forward to our next tradeshow.
Attended UDodge Tournament with REACH Edmonton

SOS Children’s Safety Magazine submitted their team and proudly sponsored the
Second annual UDodge tournament! The dodge ball tournament was created in partnership of the Boys & Girls Club of Edmonton, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) and United Way of the Alberta Capital Region with a goal of bringing youth, corporate community members and Edmonton police officers together to mentor and learn from one another, and to have fun. SOS Children’s Safety Magazine in partnership with 95.7FM The Sound took part in the Mom, Pops and Tots Show. The turnout was fantastic and we had a great response to the free magazines that were being handed out at the Sound booth. In addition SOS Magazine also donated and iPod Touch to be given away to those that visited the booth and filled out an entry form.

Congratulations to Jill Turner for her winning submission for the 2008 SOS Joshua Hunt Safety Award! She just won herself $5000 towards her post secondary education, and her safety resource essay will help other youths deal with the challenging issues they face.
March for Justice
March 2008
The 2nd annual SOS Silent March for Justice was held. This was launched by SOS Children’s Safety Magazine in 2007 and the event was a national news story! Our goal was to raise awareness that changes need to be made to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Many crime victims’ families were present and joined in the march from Churchill Square in Edmonton to The Alberta Legislature. Many local politicians were also present to march with families and express their support.

Global Edmonton visited the SOS Office to discuss the creation of the Joshua Hunt Safety Award. This bursary was broadcasted to the Edmonton public in order to gain awareness of youth violence. Stemming from the award, an animated character depicting Joshua Hunt was created and incorporated into the publication. Click here to watch the video.
